Hi Glyn, Glad to see you've picked up on Ott's masterpiece. RE- Glastonbury. Ottama (his irish name I believe) and Posford played Hallucinogen in dub with a few tracks from Blumenkraft, then Raja Ram was DJing for a bit. After that for me it was a bit blurred to say the least. Shpongle came on after and blew me away to a far away galaxy! I have to say that the glade stage at Glasters was soo much better on 'Twisted Sunday' for me, compared to Fri/Sat 4 on the floor banging. Re temple hedz. If you want to check out my other stuff go to www.templehedz.co.uk cheers
yep, I know that blurred feeling!..will check out your site, thanks.
Just picked up Ott: Blumenkraft and Hallucinogen In Dub. Both awesome. Go get 'em if you haven't already!
Glad you're enjoying them - they were great fun to make. New one on its way. We had a bloody brilliant time doing "Hallucinogen in Dub" live at Glastonbury. It was me pulling faces, Simon on Guitar and Speak and Spell and the legendary Youth on bass. Dunno if we'll ever do it again - it was supposed to be a one-off but you never know. :O] Ott xxx
Hey Ott, get in touch would you? I'd like to have a chat about stuff...
ohhhh, banco and ott.....that sounds good!!!
Greetings to you Big Nick, no sadly I am not related to John. Anyone going to Canterbury Fayre should check out Ezio for something a bit different, great song writer. And hello to you OTT, those of us who were unable to make Glastonbury would welcome the chance to hear that line up, so please see what you can do. Seeing as Youth has been mentioned can anyone on this string remember a band called RED BEAT. They were on KIlling Joke?s Malicious Damage label, and like KJ were using dub to great effect, is it possible to get anything by them on CD? cos my vinyl has long since gone.
What's happening here Toby and Ott meet for a show down! Make an album together just like that! Anyway Ott could you also get in touch with me re your album Blumenkraft as I'm doing a review on my website www.templehedz.co.uk you might have heard of me..... Cheers Paul
Just thought I'd mention here as we're all splurting out artist left right and centre. Sounds from the Ground haven't been mentioned here. Go check them out. Awsome! I bought a few albums old and new recently and have been impressed with it all so far. Sounds a cross between dub and jazz and something else....
About the j hendrix remix , i think it's dr.panic the guy who did Psychedelic Cowboy, this fucking guys rock, i saw these guys on a party they have amazing tracks.had a blast
Calling All Nicks...sorry for that. And at only 6'1" I can't beat Big Nick! Though really I should be called Old Nick... anemonE: Listening to Violet Vision right now - it's really good, rather like a modern Techno-based Kraftwerk. Sounds better than the new Kraftwerk, anyway! Big Nick: Nice (if rather incongruous) to see String Cheese Incident here :-) What next - moe.? Finally: Whilst chasing down the Waterjuice (finally tracked it down at MP3.com) I kept coming across Alien Soap Opera's "Second Wave" so gave in and bought it. It's really good - sort of early Orb meets Arabic-stylee singing (though not in a Natacha Atlas way).
On the recommendations here I bought and have just finished listening to OTT's Blumenkraft. Wow. Thanks to all who recommended it - it's like it was made for me.
Thanks for all the recommendations people, just thought I'd add "Flock of Bleeps" by "Younger Brother" who is 50% Simon Posford. It''s only just come out this year I think and is slightly more uptempo than pure chill. Lots of interesting sounds.
WARNING!! WARNING!! Hallucinogen Vs Eatstatic album due out soon! Also an Eatstatic remix album of Shpongle!! Hurrah!! See Eatstatic message board for details...
star shpongled banner is amazinamazing
Evening people, just thought you might be interested that i built the modified Speak&Spell used by that nice Mr Simon at Glastonbury. If you want any more information about it or any other wierd audio toys then take a look at my website at: http://www.circuitbenders.co.uk I'm gutted i wasn't there to hear it in action :(
crustypaul: I was stood right beside it and it was bloody hysterical. Well done sir. Long may you continue to break things.
I like a lot of Hallucinogen in Dub album, but nobody mentioned Saafi Brothers. They've released two albums, first chill-out album called Mystical Cigarettes... nice name :-) The second album is a little bit different but definitely worth listening: Midnight's Children. And yes, Shpongle is great ! Simon Posford with Raja Ram's magical flute blows your mind away...
i just got my hands on Igiszeh. . .i'm loving it. . .i can't wait to get some of the other recommendations. . .the mission begins :)
Ott.. havnt found much info on you or yar studio.. any links? and any new songs coming up? the "around the world in a tea daze.. brilliant!
Anyone ever listened to Shulman's "Soundscapes and Modern Tales" as well as his new album which the name escape me? Apparently the new one is even better than "Soundscapes..." which was viewed as Israeli's answer to Shpongle. Those statements always cracks me up anyway! heh I believe that anyone should let Ott remix their stuff, plain and simple.
I just got Celtic Cross from Soulseek. Simon Posford and Youth I believe. I tried to buy it from Psyshop and a local retailer but apparently it is out of print. Great album. I'd buy it if it was available - why not rerelease it?
I'd like to own Celtic Cross too. Same for Shulman's Soundscapes And Modern Tales that I can't find anywhere. And I can't order from Psyshop, I tried once, the order came back to them "undeliverable". They refunded. Ah well. Ever heard Twisted's "Eclipse - A Journey Of Permanence And Impermanence" ? It's incredible, feels like a full album rather than a compilation, mostly because Simon has his hands on mostly every tracks..
for lovers of banco/orb/shpongle/ott/etc, look into a guy called Shulman. he's got 2 albums out, both excellent psy ambient/dub,
I found loads of that Celtic Cross album "hicksville" at barnes&noble.com. Is that the one you be talking about? Cheers.
mrbriddles, you rock, thanks a lot :o)
coool ! Glad to hear it as I been an' ordered me a copy ! Can't wait.
Craig, and everyone else... Celtic Cross - Hicksville has been re-released on October 21st 2003, so you can get in stores now, ie, amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com tho Barnes has the lowest price right now!
Thanks for the sleuthing, moondawg. I'm ordering it!
Finally received me order from B&N. After all the recommendations from this site I got : Ott's Blumenkraft, YoungerBrother's Flock of Bleeps, Sounds from the Ground's Kin and terra firma and Hicksville from Celtic Cross. Well I've only begun to listen to them all but I'm loving Blumenkraft right now. After enjoying Hallucinogen in Dub so much this is a much needed fix for my addiction! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
hey anemone, cheers for the support..... new tunes on the way and some dates in europe this summer... next album waterjuice-melbaphonics
hey cyril...thanks for the info! will be looking forward to the new album for sure! do you have a release date yet? cheers! :)
to those of you who cant find shulman anywhere... both albums are available at chaosunlimited.co.uk saikosounds.com trance-shop.com both are amazingly beautiful and highly recommended!
Just discovered "Blumenkraft", played it for the first time last night, absolutely blown away! Top dubbety-dub-dub soundz; Toby, if OTT wants to remix your stuff, let him, you'd have a monster on your hands! "Flock Of Bleeps" is brilliant too, and Hallucinogen In Dub, which blows me away every time I hear it. There really is some amazing music coming out from these guys at the moment. I can also recommend Zohar "onethreeseven' and the new Loop Guru "Bathrime With Loop Guru". SCI-FI STEVE... http://www.stephenpalmer.co.uk
doin't forget the other PLanet Dog releases - Children of the Bong "Sirius Sounds", Timeshard "Crystal Oscillations", Timeshard "Hunab Ku", Feed Your Head 1-4, Eat Static "Abduction", Eat Static "Implant", Tranced Out And Dreaming, also check out: Return To The Source "Chakra Journey", The Shamen "Hempton Manor", The Shamen "Axis Mutatis - Arbor Bona Arbor Mala" (The Limited Edition Ambient CD is a masterpiece), Tribal Drift "Collective Journey's", Apollo 440 "Millenium Fever", Sasha & Digweed "Northern Exposure", Gong "You remixed", Future Sound Of London "Cascade" (Single). Well that lot will keep you going for a while anyway!
just got back fro GLASTO. I saw halluciogen in dub at the glade!!!!!!!!! unbelievable could someone please tell me what songs the band played and which albums were they from? ps is the band called youth or halluciogen in dub, im confused please email me as i won't rest until i have those records
It's a "one-off" band. Hallucinogen is Simon Posford's trance outlet (Shpongle = ambient/downtempo), Hallucinogen In Dub = the album title. Youth is the bass player/producer/maestro behind shed-loads of modern music. SCI-FI STEVE...
...I think Hallucinogen in Dub is hallucinogen stuff remixed by OTT....if u liked that u should check OTT's album "Bluemenkraft".......the best new thing I've heard in years (though I still havent got you are hear!).....check www.twisted.co.uk for more details.
My understanding is that OTT put together Hallucinogen in Dub presumably with the original masters of the Hallucinogen tracks and a bit of extra stuff from Mr Posford. Most of the Glade set seemed to be from the Hallucinogen In Dub CD but Im sure there were one (or maybe two) track(s) from the OTT CD in there. Best Sunday lunchtime Ive had in a long time (especially after Toby's great show Saturday night!) - Youve just gotta love how much OTT is into his crunching dub beats - I thought his head was gonna fly off into the crowd!
hallucinogen in dub - absolutly fantastic... Basically trying to dig around for the CD/download without much luck! Any chance that the glasto gig is online somewhere? Matt.
thanks for the heads-up on shpongle dude, that definitely is "a monster hit", made sure the bucket was filled fer that one! Think it is the best thing i've heard this year since YAH. cheers, really!!
re Hallucinogen in Dub. Just found it to download from http://www.audiolunchbox.com/ for around ?4 ($5.93). Me too thinks it was a great sunday lunchtime !
So far none but top suggestions, Sphongle is grand. Check out system7 as well, will ya ? One of my favs but no way near banco (for me). Anyone knows what Eat Static is up to these days... Love 'em as I am sure most of you do to !
i just found taruna's world fusion 1 & 2, they are both mind-blowing!!! STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING RIGHT NOW AND GET THESE ALBUMS!! also check the compilation - arabesque....you will not be disappointed i promise! :D
And The Arabica compliation as well. Arabesque is superb.
Hallucinogen in dub from twisted records online order took 3 days to delivery from online order, over a weekend - 2 working days! Really good stuff, cheers
Ah the Holy Trinity Of Dub......c'mon lets have a Ott Banco Posford ptoject. Tou know it makes sense and well overdue :o)
also Simon P? nice tune w/ Mr Alan Parsons.
".... can anyone on this string remember a band called RED BEAT. They were on KIlling Joke?s Malicious Damage label, and like KJ were using dub to great effect, is it possible to get anything by them on CD? 'Cos my vinyl has long since gone." Oh yes. http://www.manicmachine.com/
