I thought that Banco was the best thing i had ever heard(magical Sounds...Ive spent many nights+days with that album and my Mushroom Friends)anyway..I thought it was the best until i heard Shpongle's Tales of the Inexpressible. Now that IS a Tripped-out Bonrattlin' ride.
Go on give it a go....go on.

Sounds pretty good from the samples at cdnow.com, but while we're on the subject, my vote for album of the year, or maybe last year, is Dub Trees' album 'Nature never did betray the heart that loved her'. The guy behind it is Youth, once of the Orb. The album is awesome from start to finish - perfect electronic music. And no, this is not a plug, just a totally satisfied customer.
Go to http://www.liquidsounddesign.com - it appear's that this is Youth's label.

Well thanks to Jamie for the old Hallucinogen nights around the place...and yes Magical Sounds is awesome, and Tales I have just got hold of.

But how can anything match CD2 of Last Train when it comes to the come down, that infinite variation is a truly amazing place to be,
no plugs, its a dead heat

Check out the man called "Karkovsky" or "Karkowski", I listened his single and it's very impressive..... And of course shpongle is as impressive as Banco, too :)

speaking as an ageing hippy generally happiest when listening to gong and almost totally unaware of any music which does not have it's roots firmly in the early 70s, i find it just a little gobsmacking to find reference to both banco and shpongle on my computer screen at the same time. i know maya, igezeh and the shpongle albums, all awesome. so where next? i cannot stand fast boom boom music, i checked out hallucinogen but it was too much for me. next stop waterjuice, any suggestions would be nice, man

RE: Craig's post 22Oct/2k2: I must correct - only b/c I love Banco's work And Youth's band of origin - Killing Joke . . .The Orb SPUN OUT of Killing Joke - "Dr." Alex Patters. was their drum roadie in the eighties . . .Youth's also worked w/Ben Watkins pre(80's)-and during Juno Reactor - JR remixed (w/Youth?) Exorcism and ab. 2 more for Killing Joke on their Pandemonium CD.

Anyone know of somewhere in L.A. that c arries "Dub Trees...", I've tried the used bins, Tower, Rockaway, Arons, Vynil Fetish and Amoeba and NO LUCK . . .

If you are looking for DUB TREES then one thing to consider is ordering it on the website linked on my original post. It's a little cryptic but worth wading through. I got lucky and managed to order it through a local retailer and it took around 6 weeks to get. I also found a listing for it on CDNOW.com: http://cdnow.com/cgi-bin/mserver/SID=21471754/pagename=/RP/CDN/FIND/album.html/artistid=DUB+TREES/itemid=1550270 but it doesn't have any info about it.

8th Jan, 22:36:19

Hey guys! Well my favorites are: Banco, Shpongle, Deep Forest's Music.Detected, Delerium's Karma & Semantic Spaces (yeah, these are oldish), Ivan Kupala (not really "dubbish"; the only one that is worth in russia).
And I'v just found Entheogenic. Close to Shpongle, but I haven't listened to it much to give a proper estimate :-)

Would be interesting to hear Toby's opinion on all these. I heard he hates almost all modern music except Radiohead?

when it comes down to it, Simon is an amazing artist, not excluding the talent with whom he works. The Lone Deranger is also an awesome album. And, of course, Backroom Beats, when one wants to kick back.

Backroom Beats? Tell me more! Is this the name of an album or yet another disguise for the cunning Mr Posford?
Posted by dbugg
27th Jan, 06:11:28

Wow...this thread has kept it's track for months! What a rare find in the world of bbs. And u peeps have a refreshing sense of taste! Posford also did some amazing ambient work on Mystery of the Yeti (if u all r into that sort of thing) And on that line, Woob is a must hear. Both 1194 and emt4495. Now can someone elaborate on the 'Backroom Beats' post? I wouldn't want to miss out on any Posford works.
Posted by dbugg
27th Jan, 07:19:28

nm....i'll answer the end of my own last post...'Backroom Beats' being not a Posford alias or album but a Twisted Rec. compilation....good stuff from the looks of the lineup, though i'll have to wait 2 weeks to hear it for myself. *sigh*
Posted by Simon
27th Jan, 09:24:04

Yeah i heard the Woob-emt4495 album some time back, was very good. I seem to remember that there was a few albums out on that label that all followed a 'theme' if you can call it that... Wasn't there one by 'Gas' as well?

I know this is a really old thread, but I just wanted to say thank you to anemonE (if you're still around).

As a big Shpongle/Banco fan I was intrigued by your recommendation for Waterjuice's "Hydrophonics". I finally managed to track down a copy and I can only say that it's a gem.

In return, can I offer Midival Punditz album - two New Delhi DJs' beats meet traditional Indian vocals and instruments. Nearly album of the year for me. Their website features some very good samples.

hey nick...i'm still lurking around here. glad to hear that you are diggin' waterjuice. i will check out midival punditz, thanks for the recommendation. you might also want to look into violet vision's first sign of communication. its on the same lines as waterjuice, think you will really it. :)

So many good bands mentioned here. Can't believe you lot haven't gone mad on another one of Simon's buddies.. OTT. Blumenkraft, his new album is the best thing I've heard in years. Just come back from Glasters and saw them on the Glade stage with Posford and some other guy performing Hallucinogen in dub live!!
Blew me away. Go check his album. Shpongle were equally as good live.

Saw OTT and posford too. what a bunch of nutters! certainly the memorable moment of glasto 2003. The speak and spell face pulling session was fantastic. Bought Blumenkraft the next morning and been listening to it ever since. It is very good.

There's a German chappie with a band/act called genetic drugs.

People keep calling them the german banco.

The albums called Spacecake, it's not quite Big Men Cry but it's worth a listen

Also, there is a remix of Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze on 6 Stringadelica album. It's by the Mevlovskys???

I have heard that it is a posford/ram novelty tune and they're just going by the name Mevlovskys.

It's what I call Psy Trance at it's best.

Can any one confirm that it's posford?

Hey! What's all this? another Nick! I don't know! I bugger off on holiday for a couple of weeks and come back to find someone trading my moniker.

This needs a solution. I have an idea: Other Nick (Lees?), I'll be Big Nick. If you're over my height (which is 6ft 7in) then you can be Big Nick. Sound like a plan?

Cheers,

Nick

And yet another Nick, I shall be NickO. I was gutted not being able to go to Glastonbury, still the Canterbury Fayre line up looks good. I picked up BLUMENKRAFT a couple of weeks ago, and I can?t stop playing it, I consider it a masterpiece.

6th Jul, 10:27:49

Greetings NickO! Not related to John by any chance? Glastonbury was good this year. I liked the Lost Stage - an easy place to lose a few hours, whether leaping around to something trancey at night, or chilling to some bluegrass (hurrah for String Cheese Incident) in the early(ish) morning. Hope they'll get the ticketing a bit more sorted next year so we can all go. Cheers, Big Nick

@Paul, I was at the glade for all the twisted stuff as well, it was all wicked. But do u know if it was actually sphongle stuff he played, or was it more hallucinogen stuff. It was brilliant, but it seemed a bit bangin to be sphongle....
