This week...
"Daybreaker" Beth Orton (fab songs, whatta voice)
"Yoshimi and the Pink Robots" Flaming Lips (completely bonkers, but gorgeous at the same time)
"Deserter Songs" Mercury Rev (not sure yet)
"Last Train To Lhasa" Banco (ace! Hi Toby, did you read the book?)
"Spirals In Hyperspace" Ozric Tentacles (mad mental mad madness)
"Orchid" Ishq (supremely chilled)
"After The Goldrush" Neil Young (see 'Beth Orton' above)
An album by some guys called Sunna (cool rock)
"Are You Shpongled?" Shpongle (yes, I am completely shpongled)

Music's great, innit?

Subgiant are superb and to Sky, if you're UK based, Brad Pitt is presenting a radio documentary on Nick Drake sometime towards the end of May. Search the BBC website for details.

Yeah. Most of you fellas are probably not even from the same continent as me. (North America.) Crazy technology.

Speaking of which, mad props to whoever put Elbow's new record, FSOL's Isness, and Tabla Beat Science Live in San Fran. Great discs.

As for me, I'm listening to "You Are Here" of course. A lot. Also 808 State's Don Solaris, phenomenal album. And tons of a Japanese future jazz collective called the Seatbelts. Fantastic. That'll hold me 'til the summer, at least.

Generally Its been a hip hop week this week, with Iron Bridge's Toilet Humour featuring Dance to Your Daddy (best used of Greek samples until Zeus ), Phi Life Cypher, Roots Manuva and Madvillan getting rinsed. Bootsy Collins et al reared up for a while but retreated as soon as I got a Copy of You are Here.

Webmaster - Could we build an additional PAGE turn option posted at the top of the +50 message boards so that we don't have to scroll through past messages we've already read? It would be so much more convenient?

Sci-Fi Steve Re- earlier flaming lips stuff. Alot more experimental would be a good start. I really like "yoshimi.....", it's got loads of great songs on it, and I loved hearing "do you realise?" on the radio in amongst the rest of the guff. But This album sounds to me as though the 'lips are heading into REM territory, and good luck to Wayne (on first name terms) he deserves everything he can get. My favourite has got to be "Hit To Death..." every thing from packaging to tunes is beautiful. And do if you can check out the truly insane "Zaireeka". Hint to Toby. Infact I can honestly say go to your best record shop and buy anything by the 'lips, you won't be dissapointed for the music, the song titles, the great/mad ideas.

Grit by Martyn Bennett. A wonderful album. The best way to describe the sound of Grit, take an early traditional recording, add the sonic landscape of bjork, turn up the volume, press play and enjoy. I dare you not to get up and dance. You just can't help yourself.

A "re-mastered version of Grace along with a cd of other live/demo stuff and a DVD" box set is out this august to celebarate 10 years since the release of Grace.
