OBSIDIAN: THE TRUTH (AND BIRTHDAY PRESSIES ALL ROUND )

OK, I promised... but you won't like it... not all of it... still, you asked for it...

VERSE: Sense of perfection, flowing away, abstract reflections, of yesterday, today.

CHORUS: now, this is the tricky bit 'cos you see there is no chorus! I've said it before and it's true, Jen really was just making noises with her mouth, not singing english words at all. There, bit of an anticlimax really...

But, to make the disappointment easier to cope with I promised to spread gifts galore and here is, though I say it myself, a rather special and even-longer-overdue-than-the-Obsidian-lyrics offer: I am making available a handful of CDRs of the first 3 cassette only albums. Yes, that's Medium, Freeform Flutes..., and Deep-Live, all on pristine CDR (as pristine as the original recording quality, a lot of it 12bit, will allow) with scans of the original artwork. Email info@banco.co.uk before next tuesday July 8th and send a 'donation' towards costs of ?5GBP, 10Euros or $10USD cash (must be banknotes in these currencies only please) along with a delivery address and we'll send them out in the next couple of weeks.

There, that must make up for having to live with the truth that no song has ever yet been written containing the words :"free ham and eggs in the sun"...

i like that it's got no "real" lyrics, now i don't have to impose false structures where there aint any(appropriate really as Obsidian the rock (Silicon Dioxide) is amorphous in form and has no crystaline structure)...yipee...freedom to burble along as we please

Horray - thats way we like stuff on labels like discogecko. That and the vastly surperior music. So if they're arent any lyrics, what does she sing when she performs it live with you? (am i right in thinking she's done it live?)...does she just try to make the same sounds again. are you sure they're aren't any lyrics???!!!

I heard big men cry for the first time 7/2/03 @ vivace on broadway (an espresso bar in seattle). I immediately baught a copy. I am smitten. I was seeking this sound when i purchased EST Strange Place for Snow. I especially like the blend of electronica and earthy wind and percussion. It's beautiful. I want more! PS does that circle and triangle mean what i think it means?
Posted by elthunderbolt101
4th Jul, 11:02:22

an upward pointing triangle is a symbol of Fire and a circle = eternity: could mean 'eternal fire'; triangle also symbolic of holy trinities (father-son-holyghost; family: father-mother-child etc.), could also be a 2-d representation of a Cone! (Could also if yer a little rudely minded be symbolic of female sex orgams perhaps, although i think the triangle should maybe be pointing downwards for that!) I'm curious to know Terrabit What do you think it means?
Posted by elthunderbolt101
4th Jul, 11:22:04

opps silly me forgot the most obvious and frequently occuring "eternal triangle", you all know it, the one we socially condone now, i mean you're not having a life if you haven't done it, that's what we're all told to believe and can you smell the bitterness a mile off: that of husband-wife-lover or if you prefer, betrayer- betrayed-betrayee

Copies of the tapes on CD-R. Marvellous! Ive been kicking myself for 9 years that I was too skint to buy the cassettes at the Manchester Megadog and hadn't seen them since (and it certainly beats the price that freeform flutes went for on E-Bay about six months ago!)

Thanks for the birthday present and happy birthday!

With regards to the triangle and circle thing... apparently there is a mathmatical sum that can be done which shows that the great piramid in Giza is a physical representation on the earth and this symbol was used as an example!

6th Jul, 20:31:16

I thought it was just a triangle in a circle. Silly me.

Five days late, but happy birthday dear Simon. Oh, consolation prizes, my favorite. Tapes on CD, but wait... that stops them from being tapes. They are in a state of limbo forever! *Breaks down and cries in corner*

See now, I told EVERYBODY, and they all said that there was something more to those "lyrics" than they thought. I.... repeat, I, was the one suggesting it was merely like scat singing in jazz, or konnokol (or konnogolu) in Indian classical music. So this goes out to everybody, but especially to CHHAVI; now you all know the "terrible" truth. Thank you very much.

Received my package over the weekend, thanks Toby. I can see why you've had problems with the licencing, there's enough samples in The Final Frontier to keep the lawyers busy for a while! Haven't got round to Deep Live yet but Medium and FFFT were worth the wait, and certainly a bargin at a fiver! Hurrah! Its a shame you only get one birthday a year....
