I can't understand why anyone would spend so much time and effort putting the music together for an album like this and then so little time on the sleeve design. It's rubbish. Mine went straight in the bin. Why are the sleeve notes so tiny? As a partially-sighted person I feel that I'm been discriminated agains. Shall not buy any more Banco de gaia products. Simon.
Hi Simon I think the sleeve is GREAT and as for the writing being small ???? I have to wear reading glasses and I can read the notes perfectly. I would suggest you go to your optician and get a new pair of glasses.
I see the artwork as a possible 'irony'.... or just very trippy :) each photo has a slight change to it.... all very andy warhol for the naughties.... my daughter loves it and has kissed the face of the Tobe (being only 19months) Sleeve design is in general, a personal thing for the artist concerned in my opinion. Remember Factory Records and their sand paper sleeve? Great idea... some sleeves dont even have text :) they have an identity of their own.... and Banco sure has his identity all over it haha great indeed, a slight comedy I feel. And why the hell not. I agree in that I don't like the sleeve but thats it.. its just my opinion. And yes its your opinion too and we're welcome to it but It doesn't make it rubbish, and surely you don't hate it so much you couldn't bare looking at it and had to throw it away! We could get into a discussion like this on just about any album.. The one recent debut from the XX ?.. brilliant album but just two XX's on the cover?! How unoriginal! Hotel California? A picture of a hotel! IN CALIFORNIA??!! But anyway, I digress.. but the stuff on the inside.. is just brilliant and I speak as someone who has eagerly awaited hearing the next banco release since (*ahem*) stealing a tape from the floor of a 'mates' car that was labelled medium... As for the sleeve notes, no problem there my eyes must be ok.. Thanks Toby and Sandy and anyone else who helps in the world of Banco.. Another fab release.. (and sorry to go of on one.. I've not slept for a while........)
I also agree that the sleeve isn't that good but then I bought it to listen to the music, not look at the sleeve. I thought you were a bit insensitive there Ted, partially-sighted to me means a degree of blindness and not a degree of far/near-sightedness that can be rectified by going to Specsavers.
I'd disagree with you on rubbish artwork, as art is art. I've looked at the sleeve and wondered i) whats going on? ii) do i need 3d glasses? I reckon the design is fab. 1 piece of cardboard for 2 cd's. No plastic to break and waste and pollute. Yeah the fonts used are small but only n5 in places, mainly n8 fonts as used in most newspapers and books. If you have a sight impairment then no form of spectacles will help alone, you really need to get to see a consultant ophthalmologist, who would consider your impairment and assess if it falls within categories that can be helped with your local PCT and local services. Sight impairment is NOT "the end of the road", yes there will be an early grievance period and not being emotionally ready, but if you consider registration for a CVI, then you may find help in low vision services have less of a disabling impact on the quality of life, and the best thing is you can get helpful advice and information. I still think saying that you've been discriminated against is a little harsh, as you've managed to be able to buy the cd using the internet service or other means. Whereas were you not able to, then i would agree.
