Do you remember how, when you have know and listen for the first time "Banco de Gaia" ? Give your sensations, thougthts etc about this question ? What is the album you prefer ? (you can so come in the "Banco fans" on Myspace: my name is "Did", you can find me if you go on Myspace of Toby Marks friends.) Thanks.
Very much so - it was a track on the first Beyond Records comp, and it was fantastic!
Magadog at the Northampton Roadmender, 94 ...and then soon after in the Giasphere at Glasto...must have been abit impressed as we all used this gig as the (pre-mobilephone era) meet up point for the evenings shinannigans... both gigs blinding!!! Album - impossible to say.. What about you Didier?
Thanks for your adds! But i'm the only Banco french fan here ?? Before i listened to a little of electronic music, but nothing very original, new, different, not very fascinating. But i'm going in a great cds store named " la Fnac", a little like Virgin megastore, always to try listen something new. But in this store, there was among other albums on a border of listening, there was a strange album with beautiful sleeve and a little bit purple color (my favorite color) : Banco de Gaia "Big men cry". I begin to listen....a droplet...after many percussions drums....and it was a shock in my musical life. Later i bought all albums, but very difficult to find in France, my country is not really original and open to the "intelligent" electronic music. I'm 52 old, so i have listen and know many wonderful original music like in 70: King Crimson, Genesis, Yes, Iron Butterfly, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Pink Floyd, Gong, Miles Davis and many other wonderful jazzmen....but nothing in 90, except Banco de Gaia !!! You are lucky in UK to have many choices for this music, and go to see Banco in live, Toby is never coming in France.....but i hope perhaps, a day .....Now i wait the new album after the dreamy excellent "Farewell" !!!!
I am not from France, but Canada, not quite as old as you (only 49) but a big fan of Banco De Gaia, and of alot of the artists you list from the 70's. I hope one day I can see Banco too, came very close this fall, but it would have been a bit to far and we found out a bit too late ;(
Hi John, are you coming back over for more Shpongle at the Roundhouse on 30/09? There is a Whirl-y-Gig the next night as well!! Be splendiferous if Toby could swing a set at that! (hint hint :))
