This is a charity festival in the deep Derbyshire countryside that I am helping to organise next year, all proceeds go to Shelter' and a couple of local hospices..hope you can come along!! We did it this year and sold out 500 tickets, everyone had a greast time and we have even been nominated and then shortlisted for the UK Festival Awards (Best new festival)!!! More importantly we raised a few thousand for charity!! I have been given the dance tent to organise which is both daunting and ace at the same time...if we sell out the 1500 tickets who knows where this could end... The dance tent will be a psy-based Saturday and a more mixed live band oriented Sunday. As I have no skills in such areas, the whole weekend will be stage managed by the talented Mr Ed Tangent!! The dance tent is now open for the full 3 days as things are going well with loads of tickets sold already!! The lovely Dreadzone Sounsystem have agreed to headline the Friday!! Tickets for the whole weekend are still £45 There will be 5 stages and the site is huge! wow.. its been a long time (for me) but lost it big style to the green nuns a few years ago at a tribal gathering (oxford I think or maybe luton?) have they released anything since rock bitch mafia?.. 'ok space cadets!....'
GNOTR released an ep in 98 and then nothing since but they are back and sounding every bit as good! They rocked the Shpongle aftershow party last year to great acclaim, live shows are still abit of a rarity so this should be good!! Other acts I'm excited about are Honky Dub, this is original members of Celtica and they sound fantastic! Sunfish from Exeter, intelligent guitar trance! Their most recent stuff is still being mixed but the demo sounds outragously good!! Digital.is, sheer class....and everyone really, some very lovely people allround!!! Over half of the tickets already sold, we hope to make a massive amount for Shelter and the local homeless hospice and have a right good time doing it!! ..as for Banco De Gaia - very tip toppiest of my wishlist for 2010.. :-)
A quick update as the Bearded Theory moves ever closer... We have a name for the Dance Tent - The Magical Sounds Tent' we are powered by opuspocus.co.uk and it kinda fits nicely with the ethos of the dance tent...also sets up the possibility of a specific headliner for next year ;-) This years dance tent is a big-top and we have 2 sound engineers, 2 lighting engineers, a vj and our own smiley crew!! I havn't checked for a while but tickets are dwindling and I feel March payday might finish em off... We are also going to attempt a formal WORLD RECORD!! We will attempt to beat the 'most people in one place wearing fake beards' and officials from the Guiness Book of Records will be on site to ensure fair play.. I think we are gonna release the mainstage headliner soon so if you like abit of 40 year-old original space rock...
