The strings used in these songs I've mentioned: are they real or are they taken from some sample library? They remind me of the sampled strings used by Depeche Mode in songs like "Halo", "Sweetest Perfection", and "Home"; I don't say the arrangements are similar, but the string sounds seem taken from the Emax sample libraries used by Depeche Mode...

They are sampled, can't remember what library off-hand but a lot more recent than Emax.

Perhaps the Peter Siedlaczek Strings?

They are fantastic, and really easy to use as a VST.
