Toby,

Big Top/Moby's management - what was the deal with that?

i went specifically to the show in tampa to see you perform, only to find out that both you and someone else (BT maybe? don't remember exactly) were not going to be performing...

<sarcasm> on the bright side, i did get to see moby jump over his unplugged keyboard a few times whilst his band played along to a DAT</sarcasm>

AHHH The Big Flop Tour.......I remember it well with mixed feelings, Firstly it was my first time in the states and so for me it was a WOW, but on the down side the tour was a joke.
Firstly it turned out that the whole tour was a big plug for Moby and that all the other acts where just strung along to try and make it work.
The reason why you did not see us play was simply because that there were too many acts to fit into one nights performance.
Hence just a few shows into the tour it was decided that all the acts (APART FROM MOBY) should pull out of one show in turn.......THIS WAS NOT THE ACTS FAULT.
Tampa was the show we were TOLD not to play, apart from the fact that even the venue's were changing from day to day..........even we did not know whether the next show would happen.

It was a great shame that this tour did not do justice to ALL the performers who struggled thru it just to make it happen (APART form MOBY).

I remember doing Cleveland and that was a GREAT gig as far as the bands performance was concerned.........It was just a shame that the bums on seats did not show up in large numbers.

Just for the record .....To prove what a cock up that tour was.

The Cleveland show was suppose to open doors at 8pm .....BUT the flyers said 9pm.

System 7 were the first act on AT 8pm........PLAYING ONLY TO The Big Top Tour Crew and acts.

They still had to go on at 8pm even thou the doors did not open till 9pm.

I hope that helps you

Love

Ted

Good to read all about the old megadogs - brings backa few memories -went to a few in Sheffield and had great nights. I suppose they were a product of the time and theres very little of that sort of thing around any more, although we're quite lucky in Sheffield to still have agood underground scene with free parties and allnighters at the Arches (Planet Zogg & Headcharge) probably the closest you'll get to that totally mixed crowd all-up-for-it feeling.

Funniest gig was at Cissbury Rings - nr Brighton when my bus caught fire :-( no injuries, but was kinda an odd experience - Ozrics and Hawkwind were there... my bus was next to Dave's - he panicked and drove it through a hedge ;-)

Megadog.....many, many good memories. It stood out as they did things which nobody else would do, on a scale which blew you away. My best memories center around the beach festival & camping actually on the beach - blinding. Also when they did the dance tent at Glastonburry - a very messy weekend that was. And the Decadog event in Brixton was a bit special. And the Womad weekend was great fun. And whenever Eat Static played in Leeds was a treat - one time the support act didn't show so they ended up playing for two hours which was amazing. Also there was a 'Megasnog' event in Preston on valentines day which I got to DJ at which has always stuck with me. Happy days, though I now seems to have lost the ability to stay up all night. Must have a word with my chemist about that.....

I will always remember my mate Rob at Megadog. When he went out to party he got so incredibly wasted that he couldn't even speak. To help him communicate he would prepare a "bag of answers", containing bits of paper with answers to random questions written on them. One night I was at a Megadog & I bumped into Rob & asked how it was going. He was off his face so he offered me the bag & I took a bit of paper out. It read "two pills up the shitter - bloody marvellous!".........classic

Teabag. You weren't the guy wo showed me his giant fish were you? I loved Lady Flos. A night with Senser playing is the least vague memory I have there. What are you doing now? Are you still in London. I think the south London underground squat parties beat anything megadog did...sorry. Tribal Energy and others but I can't remember much more.....

One megadog and your hooked!, as I found out at the Marcus garvey Centre in Nottingham in 93, transglobal Underground opened the night, Ege Bam Yasi did a good d.j. set, and Banco did the main event, i did however miss banco's set cos my g/f at the time needed to go home! at 11.30p.m. (strange lass!)

Possibly went the canteen. There were a few places. An old school in Deptford? or it could have been the canteen? If you are THE Teabag from Megadog then you'll be pleased to know you aren't the guy with the fish.

I have maaaannnyy fond memories of megadog. Ive never ever got such a vibe from any other club or party since. A lovely bunch of nutters if ever I saw em. I always used to make a new hat for each event. My first and fondest memory was going to see Banco, full moon scientist and children of the bong at keele uni. I sat and watched the soundcheck and spent most of the night watching from a balcony in awe. One person Id love to chat to again was a certain Mr Rob Teabag. Last time I spoke to him he was heading to hospital for an operation and told me he'd call me when he was out. We were due to do a club at Keele university but I never heard off him again. Bloody sod has had me worried and wondering ever since. The man was a legend and I still have a chuckle about him. Ice cream and jelly tots indeed ;-P if anyone knows what happened to him, where he may be, what he's up to or how to contact him then please let me know. Ive gone through my old address books and tried all the old contacts trying to track him down. Id love to let him know how he inspired me to become the twisted fiendish monkey. Im sure I saw him the other summer going into a bar in manchester. If you're out there mister I bought yer herbal highs album ;-)

My clearest memories are sitting on the railing at the front of the Academy with hundreds of messed up faces beaming straight back at you
Eat Statics brain pulsating precariously above our heads whilst losing my mind to Bony Inctus!
The Garvey...Banco and Michael at their damn finest....Neil those days were good man!
I remember the dodgy mind machine at the Garvey (only there once) that only had the eye goggles.......so we were all lay on our backs holding onto one another for dear life as the multicoloured images warped my tiny mind whilst The Green Nuns Of The Revolution belted out in the background! Christ All Mighty!
Same night (I think) and CJ Boland played an awesome set with his blue-haired nephew!
Underworld.....Cow Girl and REZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Lizard and camping under rocks that clearly stated NO CAMPING..........BANCO once more
Another festival and hearing 'whats your name, whats your name..... Man With No Name'....funny times man!
System 7 blowing me away everytime and so many more that I just cant cope!
SEE YOU ALL THERE FOR ANOTHER DECADE OF MESSED UP NONSENCE
BRING IT ON!

Boy do I remember the Megadog days!!! I remember entering the Manchester Academy with that sense of anticipation for an immense evening ahead, MC Teabag and Evolution setting the pace; then all of a sudden the music explodes and all mayhem breaks loose!! Emperion, System 7, Banco de Gaia, Eat Static, 808 State, Underworld, Man With No Name, Michael Dog, Hallucinogen....the list goes on and on.... Megadog was my religion. I also remember the best festival ever in St. Austell with all the Manchester heads, dancing every night till the sun came up, the Walk the Plant boat, Banco de Gaia in the sun, the enchanted forest, Mark Allen djing in a teepee by the beach playing the crispest trance ever- bliss!!!! Wishing it would never end.....
I remember going to the Last Ever Manchester Megadog ever, after going to the last Leeds Megadog the previous week. I don't remember much about it except everyone dancing in a frenzied ecstatic state for hours, hoping that the night would last forever. At 4 am spilling out of the Academy and across the road to the Occasional Cafe, where Ed Tangent did his stuff till lunchtime.
Those were the best days ever, RTTS in Club Underground, invading the stage for Mark Allen blasting our senses with 'Stranded', the Opollo's forst ever Megadog Allnighter with the Herbal Tea Party, chilling out in Chorlton Meadows afterwards...
Thought I'd never get the chance to dance in a Megadog ever again, but lo and behold I am going to Megadog this very weekend in the Academy, oh yes!! Happy days!! Eat Static, Evolution, MC Teabag, Michael Dog, the crew are back!! Hope to see you all there....FEED YOUR HEAD..... ;-)

We're very lucky where I live, we have these Future Sound of Exeter gigs. So I can relive my youth! They bring all the bands in, Eat Static, Banco, System 7. Went to see old Hawkwind the other week, plus I saw a band called Global the first time the other night and they were amazing. Oh yeah...The smells of patiouly oil & drug induced farting dancers all came back to me. Next gig is Banco next Saturday. (-:

I'm 36 and my legs are wrecked...eyeballs not focusing 100%..Monday @ work and i'm Happy.
Just bin to the latest Manchester Megadog....Nice 7/10. My mate Darren (must of seen him dancing berzerkly in his wheelchair) introduced me to Megadogs in '93 and we went to nearly all of them in Manchester.Needless to say we can't remember the best 1's. Megadogs were great. The crowd consisted of every type, from the Cream/M.O.S Glam Babes thinking 'what on earth am i doing here next to all these swetty dancing loons?'...But Luvving the safe feeling of the Megadog vibe and getting 'well into it' TO the Diehards who always seemed to end up dancing in the same places water in hand, Grins on Show.
'Dogs were and always should be messy affairs.
I learn't i could dance how i wanted to without feeling daft what a great realization that is. I added some nice CD's to my collection..got offered a shag/drugs/drink/party wot else do yer want for a nightout. You get your moneys worth, fantastic decor/visuals dancers and stiltwalkers(who appeared whenever i skinned up) and the Music..THE MUSIC was 'effin ace Transglobal..Loop Guru..Drum Club.system7.spooky.zion train.carl cox.timshard.u-ziq.evolution.david holmes.earth nation etc
They've recorded the 22/11/03 Manchester Megadog any info? and somebody Please get a website together..HEAD IS FED ?

Best ever Mancherster Megadog has got to be the Fluke, CJ Bolland, Spooky night with probably the best dj set i've ever heard from evolution. Went to the 22/11 and was happy that it still has the potential to be a great night even though i thought the crowd lacked a bit of that extra special bang. Please can we have some more fresh acts, lawgivaz were probably the best act of the night, more new talent please.

I really remember 3rd Eye nights at snobs and Q club, due to being based in the Midlands.
Snobs with face painting, foot massages and painting walls. Fantastic memories and hazy weekends.

Megadog when it visited the area - Wolves being the venue I most remember.
