To Ditto,

I certainly do remember Nicola. And if you look on this very forum string you will see that there is a message from/about her (7th april 16:04).

Do you also remember chris (with long tight curly hair) and little Phil (danced on the speaker stack with a knitted UK Techno hat).

Very very happy days.

Hey 'cat' - lost anything? it will be... IN THE SAND - yes I remember the Dog beach festie @ St Austal... I remember being in a blue tardis portaloo when Banco started to play & rushing out to dive into the crowd - dancing in the car park! (running late again you see) - but the sand the sand oh the sand! Whatever happened to Carlyon Bay as a venue?

well i went to a couple of megadog festivals, and a few of the megadogs.
my first one was in liverpool in 1994. underworld played two sets. it was my first techno event, so i sat down all night- cos i was too self concious to dance. wat a larf!!! later on i was the first to dance.
i dressed as a devil for the sabre tooth dog in glasgow arches..... met cj bolland, drum club, michael dog- who sorted it out for me to dress up..... a genuine, genuine gentleman. he made me feel special that night!!! i was only 18- one hyperactive motherfucker!!! excellent!!!
best megadog?probably the all nighter in manchester apollo nov' 96, with banco , timeshard, future loop, and eat static (the first time i ever seen them!!!). wow!!!.........in fact, i think while static were playing, there was an alien on stilts on the stage, and it fell?! hmmmm, was it me mind playing tricks?
i think for me there is so much sentimentality, because it was going on when i was young....these times are when we take new things into our lives with magnificent zeal.
yeah, i guess it was my woodstock!!!

yeah i know there are loads of clubs doing this kind of stuff, but it will never be how it was. call me a nostalgic git if you want.

oh, since all this i went to cream a few times, got guest list passes through a mate.........................fuck me- what a load of shit- all the lads looking like gareth gates, queing INSIDE the club to see some over hyped dj.

and in the immortal words spoken to george best, i ask myself:
......."where did it all go wrong?"

A Disko Gecko night in London..? I know a few people who would get out of bed for that! In fact, how about a group discount? ;~D Sounds fantastic, but why London? If you're based in Cheddar I mean? It's the numbers game init? What ever happened to the Banco nights in Bristol?! - On and Cat.. I was there, Carlyon Bay, camping on the beach, yeah!

Oh yes Megadog, really loved the events at Brixton, remember spending the best new year of my life there, and decadod that was good, i used to wear a 3ft fluorescent yellow top hat to them, then i was 18, I got a picture of the crowd (with me in my hat) from a brixton one that was in muzik issue1 somewear, great people, great music great nights, what more can you ask for.

Poisoned Electrick Head are long deceased (1998 was the implosion year) but Bun continues to play with 'Volunteers' in Wigan, and I've got a few musical ventures on the go in Belgium.
Also, I've completed the PEH biography and am looking for a publisher. For more info, check my website www.android80s.com

I remember we played many Club Dog nights at the George Robey, and the first Megadog at London Uni (the Club Dog 5th Birthday Bash) , but after that the event became less "band" oriented and on more of a dance vibe, so we were quickly something of a dinosaur.
Bob and Michael were very nice about it; we could've taken it as a cue to evolve with the times like so many other smart cookies did (Steve Hillage, Eat Static etc), but we were so wrapped up in our own little cyborg microcosm that the trends of the outside world rolled on without us.
After that we retreated to the rural feral chaos of the free fezzies until the Public Order Act in 92.

big up st.helens!!!!
i heard that you had gone to brussels, as everyone i ever meet fron st.helens seems to know lecky head personally!
i saw you first with hawkwind in '93 (l'pool royal court)
and then in 1998..... xmas time a club called flex 2.
now answer me this mate, was flex 2 as dodgy as i thought it was?
was/is it a pool club for middle-aged gay men?!
great night, but my mates were dragged along by me, and wanted to fuck off at midnight, so one of them could meet his bird in a shit night club in new brighton......WHICH, i recall refused my entry as i had trainers and red jeans on. glad i didn't get in cos it is always full of drunken knobheads dancin to the monkees' day dream believer- how far from the megadog vibe is that!?!?!?!
i had money put aside that night for a PEH t-shirt, but it got spent on a cracking donner meat 'n' chips, as you didn't have any decent t-shirts- are they extinct now?
i hope you're doing well brian.

Poisoned Electrick Head, got your albums. Loved your costumes. Did you know Thunderdogs? Your music is so very similar to theirs. Trying desperately to find someone who's heard of them.
Posted by Briandroid
16th Sep, 10:16:53

Ah, the Thunderdogs. Yes we played with them many a time. I still have the album. There's a picture of our singer on the inner sleeve collage.
Marge, their old manager ( and ex-Wango Riley Stage owner), lives in Brussels now, so we meet up from time to time and reminisce.
Waaawwhhh!!! Wot great days!!

was remembering Megadog and thought I'd have a look on the net n stumbled upon this forum.....i was/am with the psychick warriors and have so many wonderful memories of Megadog....as has been mentioned by many ppl here, Micheal Dog was (and presumably still is) such a sweet easygoing guy...i remember all the regular crew very fondly in fact...ah if only i could turn back the clock and revisit those days....anyhow good to see so many people remember MegaDog fondly....oh by the way...does anyone have any video of live performances? if so please send me a mail...cheers!

21st Sep, 22:03:59

hmmmmm,
perhaps they should make a dvd documentary about the megadog, as it has been 10 years since the decadog, and if my maths serves correctly that will be 20 years of club dog/ megadog!!!
it would be great to see some kind of 'take home' celebration of this, maybe in a book form, as there was always the regular posse taking photos.
it would certainly make me shout *WOOF!*

24th Sep, 11:01:20

Perhaps a box set, 3 or 4 CDs of tracks donated by associated bands, maybe a DVD from Coloursound, couple of CDs of live sets from megadog, I know for a fact that Banco, Eat static, Salttank, and CJ Bolland have these. And a book of photos donated by fans, those present, and anyone else who cares. I know I'd spend forty quid on a well put together package like that. Have a mini-dog in me own front room.

i am a poet and did a piece called "megadog".
I am particularly pleased about it- for me it summed up the essence of one of the best nights of my life.
i do poetry about more mundane stuff as well though, got to do one about the girl who dumped me a fortnight ago......

anyone want to hear my megadog poem?????? it'd be nice to hear comments from people who are in the know.

cheers

Hello folks,
I have a look at this forum every so often and it always brings a smile to my face to see that so many people have such happy memories of the 'dog days'. I resist posting here generally, as it's Toby's site and he could probably do without his forum being usurped even more than it is! I've just read microcat and neilardo's recent postings and so I wanted to take the opportunity to put the word out that I am slowly working towards creating a photographic history of Megadog and Club Dog to post on the Megadog website at www.megadog.co.uk (only a welcome page there at the moment). I'm looking for good - visually interesting/well shot photographs of people, performers, bands or anything else of interest from any Megadog or Club Dog event (particularly Club Dog as I have very few photos of Club Dog either at Wood Green or The Robey). If you or a friend of yours, have any images that might be of interest and can be bothered to scan them, they would be gratefully received and may well end up on the website. You can send material to my email address michael@dogland.demon.co.uk ideally, with as much information about who is in the photo and when/where it was taken as you can remember!! (make it clear in the 'subject' box that it's photos for me otherwise I'll probably assume it's spam and delete it without reading!) I'd love to do a full written history on the site but that will have to wait till I retire and have a LOT of time on my hands, so I thought a photographic history might be the next best thing. Eventually, I hope to make the small amount of video that I have, available too and sooner or later, I'll commision someone to sort me out a discussion forum so that everyone who wishes to, can reminisce on the appropriate website! In the meantime, thanks on behalf of all the old 'dog crew' for all the lovely comments. Yes, it IS 20 years since we started. Lotsa love. Michael

PS I caught up with Toby and Sandy after a long absence, at the Solfest this summer. Toby played a blinding set and totally rocked the house! Lovely to see you both again and hats off to Toby for keeping it together for so long. The Solfest was fantastic and I thoroughly recommend it for next year, to anyone looking for a proper 'oldschool' happy smiley festival to go to.

Brian Droid, How possible would it be to get a taping or something. I lost mine so long ago and really miss it. My favourite song of all time is on there. It goes "Blowing blowing blowing blowing away" You know that one? Had great times at Wango Rileys Travelling Stage. MICROCAT, love to read your poem.

I'm not sure which song you mean, could you give me another clue?
(Half the time they didn't know what they were singing!!! I've a gem of a recording from a gig where the crowd were throwing pints of water over us, and Andy flipped and asked the entire audience to "come outside and get beaten to fuck" Mental )

has anyone heard heard any "official" news about teabag?
I didn't know the guy personally, but went to numerous megadogs and thought he made them special- megadog will never be beaten.
i know they're are a lot of amazing parties around the world- especially in the psy-trance scene, but megadog will always be the one for me. it was the first of its kind that i encountered, back in 1994....
it's like the girl i lost my virginity to, she scared me shitless, but i look back fondly to that day.
on the subject of teabag, what i can say is that i did meet him at megadogs, and what i can say from first hand encounter is that he was a gent. early on in the night of one megadog (where system 7 were playing), i interrupted him- mid mc- gave him my ticket and asked him if he could get steve hillage to autograph it for me. when the first band came on, he came out into the crowd to give it to me.
this absolutely made my day! what a fella!

nam-myoho-renge-kyo, mate.

slightly off topic but I was at the Endorse It festival in Dorset and there were loads of old megadog faces there, even one who remebered my mate shaky dave taking a tumble down the stairs at Brixton Academy in 1993. He was OK by the way thanks to the horse pills...
