Broken Rio Karma MP3 Player

Hello,

A few years ago, I worked at the place that distributed the Rio range of Mp3 players in the UK and I looked after customer returns. Every now and then a faulty MP3 player would come in and it would be possible to see what tracks were on it. One Rio came in that caught my eye because the track listing was comprised of house, hard house, chillout and trance, very similar to my own music library. Most of the artists I knew of, except for one I'd never heard of before and that was/is Banco.

So if you returned a faulty Rio Karma and you're in this forum, then I'm endebted to you for introducing me to Banco. I was intrigued by an album I'd never heard before entitled 'Last Train to Lhasa'. Since then I've been hooked. I am past my rave-by-date now, but I might be tempted out of retirement to see Banco live this year, Donington perhaps.

I hope the shop that you bought your Rio Karma from replaced it without too much delay or gave you a full refund. Many thanks, if you're out there.

funny you should mention it, but i used to have a rio carbon, which i took back on numerous occasions...

with a very similar playlist.

I probably processed your Carbon as well. The Carbon was a bit sleeker looking than the Karma. One particular album that was on there was David Sylvian's Dead Bees on a Cake. Was that one of yours? Four Buddha Bar Albums? A few Beloved Albums?......Am I getting close?

In a similar vein (sort of) I have the Guardian newspaper to thank for introducing me to BdeG. One of their tracks was featured on a free CD, Tongue in Chic it was. OK not typically Banco now that I know Toby's work real well but it was sufficiently different to anything else and of course the singers voice hooked me. The same CD got me hooked on Lemon Jelly too!
But that was just the beginning and after purchasing you Are Here I tried the 10 Year compilation and then my mind expanded and there was no looking back..................
Anybody else unusually introduced to the miracle of Banco?

sounds like you enjoyed your job!

what you described wasn't mine. i do miss my carbon, but on the second attempt at replacing it, it had become out of date- i miss it actually. i think it was cooler than an i-pod.
