Great festie, I just love that place so I would highly recommend to you forumees who haven't yet been there. It's small with a few stages located in some old farm buildings, highly atmospheric and full of great people and really good bands. I was impressed by Elephant Talk who were a mixture of electro and folk and also Hazah and Emma & the Professor from Shropshire the first of which are a duo backed by some great Apple programming a la Toby plus numerous interesting instruments including bagpipes and clarinet! The second were a 4 piece this festie (but normaly a duo) consisting of gaelic drum thing (cant remember the name but you hold it in one hand and whack it with a wristy twiddly stick) plus electro base, acoustic guitar and cello - sounds wierd but they made a great sound! All in all a good time was had but the proverbial nail in my particular coffin was the after festie 3 hour DJ set from 12 till 3am from which my ears are still ringing as I type this at 11pm the next day! Also the half bottle of bourbon and 5 pints of local ale have taken their toll! Thought I saw Tort and tried to strike up a convo but I think the guy just thought I was wierd so maybe it wasn't him! Where were you Ted, how were Temple Hedz on Friday? Blue
Hi Blueboy Had a great weekend as always at OTT. You couldn't have missed me. I was the dishevelled looking Goldilocks in a lime green frock. Photos now online including one of me & also one of Ted trying to give the mixing desk a drink :o) Cheers Tort
Yes I saw you! You looked great (sort of). My tent must have been near yours or your friends, they were watching the footie on Saturday afternoon in an old VW camper! I'm sure I saw you there as I doubt you had a lookalike! Great festie and I was impressed with Elephant Talk. Did you see Hazah and Emma & The Professor in the Chill-Out room on Sunday eve? They were both superb too. Aswad were just loud but they brought back some happy memories of the 80s.... cheers Blue
The van belongs to my friends the Mooses. I was camped next to it. Not sure about watching the footy but we had the radio on while they cooked up a very splendid veggie chilli. Elephant Talk were excellent. Didn't see the others you mentioned I'm afraid.
Great time was had by all .... Lovely festival
Looking at the photos and hearing the description that seems like a lovely festival. Similar to Hawkfest this year, lovely and cozy, great intimate atmosphere and loads of comfy buildings. xx
Hi Lynsey Yes you'd love it, always something there to appeal and a lovely ambience, just hope they can keep it going - we need to support these events otherwise all we will have is Glasto and it's ilk - great in their way but it's like the corner shop vs the superstore as far as I'm concerned....... Maybe see you there next Spring or whenever the next one is.........
Don't mention the SUPERMARKETS ... Glasto started small you know, like Tesco! But Glasto is ofcourse ON The Tracks. That bloody railway track, memories of trudging..
